1 Cool Dozen Art and Poetry Gift Books By Konnoisseur411 [11 more lists]
A book with great art and great poetry is one of those feel-good deals that most people take for granted until something ugly happens that makes them grab one like a lifeboat or something. This list includes books for enjoying any time on a regular basis and I like the wide range of names plus the time span, from centuries ago up until right now. When putting this list together I did some research just to throw some objectivity into the mix and found out the official name for poetry based on a work of art is ekphrastic. ELEMENTAL, The Power of Illuminated Love - Luther E. Vann, Aberjhani
Not a lot of artists and poets around who are as original as Vann and Aberjhani but at the same have links to writers and artists from the jazz age. Vann has just been named the 2011 Heritage Days Artist at Penn Center in South Carolina so that means he gets to move up a notch or two.BUY @ amazon - 3
I Live in Music by Ntozake Shange and Romare Bearden
2011 is the 100th anniversary of Bearden's birth. A lot of critics say he painted poetry so this team up with the "For Colored Girls" author Ntozake Shange is a good one.BUY @ amazon -
