List Rules Only songs that were nominated for Best Original Song in 2016.

It’s that time of year again, award season time! The 88th Academy Awards will air live on February 28, 2016. The Oscars are considered cinema’s most prestigious award show and often the debate about who should win or even be nominated stirs up a lot of controversy. Here are the nominees for the 2016 Oscar for Best Original Song.

If the Golden Globes are truly a predictor of who will win at the Academy Awards, the current frontrunner is “Writing on the Wall,” by Sam Smith and Jimmy Napes from the latest 007 installment, Spectre. Bond films have been impressing the Academy lately, as the Adele song “Skyfall,” from the movie of the same name, took home the Oscar in 2013.

Several other pop stars will compete for the 2016 Academy Award for Best Original Song. We could see Lady Gaga receive an Oscar if the Academy chooses “Til It Happens to You” from the film The Hunting Ground. The Weeknd would take the Oscar stage if “Earned It” from Fifty Shades of Grey were to win.

Rounding out the Oscar nominees for Best Original Song are David Lang’s “Simple Song #3” from the movie Youth and J. Ralph & Anthony’s “Manta Ray” from Racing Extinction.

Vote up the songs you think will win the Oscar for Best Original Song, then watch the ceremony on February 28 to see if your favorite wins.
