Well, they deserve to be there more than many who are in . . . I based my rankings not just on personal preference, but also on the type of criteria that the Rock Hall of Fame supposedly is about - being influential and breaking ground. As well as just simply being beloved by rock fans worldwide (tho I didn't include any artists I am not a fan of - sorry Darryl and John, but some of your '80s hits make me vomit). All of these are more deserving in my opinion than a good 25% of the artists who have made it in.
- 1More or less simultaneously with Zeppelin and Sabbath, they invented metal, yet they aren't even on the ballot most years? Additionally, they were one of the biggest concert draws in the world, including the US, from 1970-75. For shame, aging rock critics and industry snobs, for shame. Have never gotten any respect from critics or the industry, yet have kept an incredibly devoted fanbase for almost 40 years, still selling out arenas even when they play 8 new songs most tours, have had the same lineup (ok, with an asterisk) their whole history, and staples of North American rock radio.BUY @ amazon - 3
Question their talent all you want, but KISS were total originals, worked harder than anyone in the business, and did in fact write some extremely memorable songs. And the live show . . .BUY @ amazon -
- 4 I am a bigger fan of other bands on this list, but . . . wow . . . Yes - who helped invent prog - isn't even typically on the ballot for this Hall? Laura Nyro - who had like 2 hits and whose career petered out pretty quickly - gets in this year but a totally original groundbreaking band like Yes doesn't make it because the snobby fogeys who set the ballot just DON'T LIKE PROG.
