5 Good Reasons To Love American Cars Again By mkramer
Okay, so the bailouts have happened and Toyota is in some serious trouble. We’ve all had our fun ripping on the American automotive industry. But just like Kevin Federline, it's become passé. But unlike hating Kevin Federline, hating the automotive industry has become passé because it's genuinely improving. Open your minds - and dare I say your hearts? - to good old American craftsmanship with these wonderful automobiles, made right here in the U.S. of A...

Fisker Automotive
Henrik Fisker, design guru most recognized for his work on the Aston Martin DB9 and V8 Vantage, created the company with a focus on luxury hybrid vehicles. Through a partnership with Quantum Technologies, the curvaceous flagship car, Karma, uses plug-in hybrid technology to allow a zero emission, 50-mile range.
Plug your Karma in at night (leave your dogma in the shop) and in the morning you have an all-electric ride to work. Once the 50 miles has been reached and exceeded, a typical hybrid engine takes over (a gasoline powered engine runs and recharges the battery).
Based in Irvine, California, Fisker has brought his European sensibilities and design style to produce an American company focusing on the cars of tomorrow... today! -

2010 Cadillac CTSV
You may have heard the expression, "It's the Cadillac of ___". Well, the 2010 Cadillac CTSV reminds you why Cadillacs are the Cadillacs of automobiles to begin with.
Not only can this sedan do a 0-60 run in 3.9 seconds but it will do it in style. There are loads of options to make this fast Caddy a very luxurious one. Adjustable Recaro seats, premium Bose sound system and adaptive headlights are just a few options you can choose from. - 3
2010 Chevy Silverado Hybrid
For those of you that think hybrid drive only belongs in awkwardly proportioned, battery-shaped sedans (looking at you, Prius...), prepare to have your mind blown.
Done preparing? Well, it may be surprising to think of a hybrid truck at all, let alone one in the style of the full-size beast that is the Silverado, but the performance figures are impressive: The hybrid powertrain produces 332 horsepower and 367 lb-ft. A non-hybrid Silverado only produces 13 more lb-ft of torque so this is a hybrid that can still tow serious cargo. The fuel economy is estimated at 21 mpg city/22 mpg highway. This hybrid truck proves that an American automaker can innovate not just imitate. -

2011 Ford Mustang Shelby GT 500
Yes, the car is a legend and has never lacked in straight-line, white-knuckle power... but there's always room for improvement.
If Nicolas Cage jumped this baby over the Vincent Thomas Bridge, he'd not only have a bigger 5.4-liter V8 growling under the hood, but also a more fuel efficient getaway car: 23mpg highway/15mpg city.
The best news is this Stang will not be assessed a gas guzzler tax... a testament to maintaining American muscle while adapting to the times. - 5
2010 Corvette
The 2010 Corvette boasts a minimum of 430 horsepower (and up to 505 horsepower) in the Z06. With 505 HP, you've got exotic car power at a less than exotic price ($74,285 base MSRP). To put things into perspective - a 500 hp Porsche 911 Turbo costs $132,000.
The Corvette line proves America can do performance.
For all you people who know nothing about cars, trust us... all that stuff is extremely impressive. And to top it all off, this is a car pretty enough to bring home to mom.
