This might be crazy to imagine, but a lot of the TV, Internet and print news networks covering the British Petroleum oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico are actually paid millions and millions and millions of dollars per year to advertise BP products. That said, it might be interesting to find non-sponsored accounts of what’s going on in the gulf. Here are some alternate sources of info that can be found on Twitter!

She was cute in the 1980s. She turned hot in the 1990s. She’s played, among other things, a suburban east coast daughter and a witch on TV. Now, she’s all about the planet and its creatures! Er…and she’s STILL hot! Alyssa Milano has been posting BP-oil-spill-links on her Twitter feed since the story took the nation over. If not for her link to a page on BP’s website, some may not have known that BP oil is used in Castrol Oil and at Aarco gas stations, right here in the USofA! Name a news network that took the time to explain that to the worried public… Check out her Twitter feed, where she goes by @Alyssa_Milano to keep up with what’s new on her BP radar.

    Jean-Michel Cousteau

One of the sons of the amazing ocean explorer Jacques Cousteau; not only does he have a fuzzy white beard like his dad did, but he also cares as much about the ocean too. Search out @JMCousteau on Twitter for links to underwater video feeds, photos, articles and expert opinions of all things BP-in-The-Gulf. While you’re there, ask him if he was born with that there awesome white, snowy, sea-foamy, oceanic beard of his. Amazing. TRULY amazing!

    Ian Somerhalder

This actor’s Twitter bio explains, "Dead guy on LOST now undead on The Vampire Diaries." According to his Tweets, it seems he’s actually currently in Louisiana, tweetin’ like mad about the BP spill. It's always fun

Parodying as a BP public relations representative, this tweeter has the comic skills to leave even the most concerned Americans rolling on the floor with laughter.
