List of the Most Epic Movies

Rattling off the first 10-15 movies on this list was easy (big, showy movies with considerable explosions, panoramas, and destruction both physical and emotional), but once you get past the Apocalypse Now's and Scarface's of the list, it gets a little trickier to define what an epic movie actually is. So I looked up a definition of "epic movie".

Epic (movie): 1. on a grand scale; 2. occurring over a long period and characterized by a lot of difficulties; (n.) a poem, story, or artistic expression that describes heroic deeds

So it really came down to thinking about stories that needed to be told (Schindler's List), movies that shone a light on the good and the bad sides of a character (The Dark Knight Trilogy), and movies whose scenery was as grand as its actors (Master and Commander). And I'll probably come back to add more later, but for now, these are what I consider to be the most epic movies of all time.
