A list of anarchist musicians. The list includes musicians who are self-described anarchists, regardless of whether or not their music or lyrics specifically deal with anarchy. Anarchism, loosely defined, is the rejection of any kind of compulsory or centralized government. Anarchists typically seek to avoid being ruled or governed in any way, and favor the total abolition of political and nationalistic rule. Many of the musicians on this list take active steps in forwarding their anarchist beliefs or spreading the word about anarchism.. (For example, members of the anarcho-punk English band Chumbawumba, who used to encourage fans to steal their albums from stores rather than pay for them.)
However, some of the other members of the list had more traditional music careers, and were simply outspoken about their anarchist beliefs and politics in their private lives.
The list may include members of popular anarchist bands, but is limited to listing the individual anarchist musicians themselves.
