Apocalypse 2009 | List Of The Year's Scariest Moments

This 4.9 billion dollar particle accelerator has already been turned back on in 2009. The particle accelerator broke down last year after only running for 9 days. So, how is this apocalyptic? The machine is capable of making thousands of black holes. Those big things in space that absorb everything like stars and entire planets? Yeah. That's why this is scary. When a team of the top scientists in the world is turning something with this much power on for the first time and saying "oops", it's an almost comedic-scary event.

A pandemic capable of reducing the entire planet's population. That is apocalyptic. This threat to all of humanity was thankfully averted by teaching people how to wash their hands and with $30 shots. Nice try, nature, but we're still winning. And you're goin' DOWN!!!

This is a pissing contest North Korea shouldn't be playing in because they have a huge one (contrary to popular belief). Testing missiles capable of carrying nuclear warheads could have sparked WW III. Posturing is understandably part of international politics, but actually testing missiles is like playing "I'm not touching youuuu!" with throwing knives. Iraq merely hinted that they had WMD's and look what happened to THEM. North Korea's lucky no one takes them seriously because of their ladies' sunglasses.

Living by the ocean continues to lose its appeal after yet another tsunami takes number lives. There have been thousands of earthquakes and tsunamis this year. With the world in a global recession these catastrophes could push things over the edge. It has been like Roland Emmerich's 2012, only at a slower pace, for quite some time now. People are just now starting to realize it. Unlike I did during the movie multiple times, though, we can't walk out of this one.

The incident at Fort Hood where Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan shot and killed several people could have been a coordinated terrorist attack on US soil. That's the possibility here. Think about it, US officers associating with Islamic extremists then going postal on American citizens? A coup? What if America was taken over by a coup?

Even worse, another coordinated attack on US soil during its vulnerable state could definitely bring about an apocalypse because of the country's reaction to it. Think about it: what if Obama goes Bush? End of the world, people. End of the world.
