The third grouping based on our list of the Worst Movies of All Time list defines what we came to call the "Self-Important Pretension" category. These are films that came saddled with a lot of hype and ambition, and clearly audiences didn't feel that they lived up to the expectations. ("The English Patient's" failure to live up to its hype inspired a classic episode of "Seinfeld.")

This was the smallest grouping of films into a single "factor" (determined by correlations in the preferences of like-minded Ranker voters), and also perhaps the easiest to "define" in clear terms. These were clearly voted on by people who think that the worst movies aim high and fail to deliver.

Be sure to check out our lists of the other "Factors" based on the Worst Movie list quotes, like Factor 1 (B-Movie horror), Factor 2 (cheesy movies), Factor 4 (disappointing franchise movies) and Factor 5 (overhyped duds)
