Bar Tips - How to Get Served in the Bar
Bar tips. Whether you want a beer, a shot of tequila, or something in between, these are the tops and tricks for getting a drink in a busy bar by treating your bartender right and not looking like just another d-bag.
- 1
Tip well
The standard rule for tipping is $1 dollar per drink. If you're ordering a large quantity of drinks, then tip 20 percent on the final bill. Don't be cheap, they're working while you're having fun. - 2
Remember there are millions of different drinks
Don't become upset or roll your eyes when a bartender asks you what's in the drink you ordered. Each bar is as different as the next, and unless it's something obvious like a "rum and diet coke," they won't necessarily know what a Rubber Ducky is. - 3
Dont take pictures of female bartenders
If you think you're being subtle, you're not. You're a dumb drunk idiot, and you're not fooling anyone. Don't be creepy. Chances are the guy taking pictures of female bartenders is also the same guy all the other girls in the bar are putting on their "avoid that weirdo," list. - 4
Bartenders know when you need a drink
Don't slap your credit card on the table, or flash your cash in their face when it's busy. They know you need a drink, they're getting to you, and you just wind up looking like a dick they don't want to serve. - 5
Be polite.
Bartenders rarely hear a "please," or a "thank you." Don't become impatient, don't roll your eyes, and when he/she is pouring a drink, a "how's your night going?" goes a long way.
