List Rules MLB teams that switched cities, not just to another side of town

A list of professional baseball team that moved. Since the beginning of the Major Leagues at the end of the 19th century, teams have been able to up and go when another city dangling a new stadium and the promise of riches that couldn't be had in their current locale. Beginning as early as 1902, teams have swapped cities with their sights set on greener pastures. A lot of the teams on this list, at the least the ones that ditched their original cities, have in a roundabout way ended up returning to their original city either by expansion or another team moving and adopting the original franchise's name, colors and logo. You'll be surprised to learn that some of Major League Baseball's biggest and most historic teams on the list. The two biggest and most notorious relocations took place in 1958 when the Brooklyn Dodgers and New York Giants left the bright lights of New York City to become the first Major League Baseball franchises on the West Coast when they became the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants respectively.

You will also be surprised to learn that the original Baltimore Orioles eventually became their biggest rivals, the New York Yankees (with a quick period of being called the New York Highlanders in between). Before landing the Nationals when they moved from Montreal in 2005, Washington D.C. had the dubious distinction of losing its baseball team, both called the Senators, twice.

This is the list of baseball teams that moved cities. In the future, there will likely be another few teams that make this list when they eventually are lured to another market by a new stadium or when their old one becomes rundown to the point where it doesn't make financial sense for the team to stay where they are.
