The Eternal City
Unlike any comic I've ever read, on mobiles or otherwise. The pacing and character work are extraordinary. It's very slow, but leaves a lasting impression. Written and Illustrated by Sergio Carrera. 5 Issues.

American Terror
A fan favorite in print, it makes for a great black-and-white-and-gray iPhone comic. American warfare, politics, and lots of conspiracy theory fodder fuels the fire, and all of it handled in an unexpectedly casual, straight-forward tone that allows for a great story rather than anything preachy.

LAN Light Apprentice Nate
Animation and clever transitions raise LAN above the mobile comic rabble. It's a pretty simple story, but action-packed and a blast. There's a free Issue #0 with no animation, and then a paid #1 that used the first bits of cool animated moments. Definitely looking forward to comics on digital devices growing more in this direction.

Where Grows the Bitter Herb
Like Eternal City, this is one that will stick with you long after it's read. The art is captivating - like Where the Wild Things Are meets Tim Burton.

5
Skyscrapers of the Midwest
Read one panel and you'll read to the end. I don't think there's any way to actually describe or explain this comic beyond that.

One of the best comic stories on the past few years. Written by son-of-Stephen-King, Joe Hill.
