The best films for kids are often animated, feature memorable musical numbers (who can forget "Everything is Awesome" from The Lego Movie?), and have minimal violence. These sorts of kid-friendly films can be tough to find, but in 2014 there were plenty of great options that were perfect for children and the whole family to watch together, whether in theaters, on DVD or streaming thru Netflix, Amazon and other VOD services.

There were also a lot of Disney movies in 2014 including great animated movies like Big Hero 6 and Planes: Fire and Rescue as well as great live-action Disney movies like Maleficent, Alex and the Terrible, Horrible No Good, Very Bad Day.
