There are many "Best ski resort" lists. Most of them try to accomodate the fact that different people care about different things: terrain, snow, nightlife, other activities, family friendly, etc. This list is just about the quality of the skiing itself for expert skiers (and boaders, with the exception of the top-rated one).

Over 300 days of sunshine each year, and still over 400 inches of annual snowfall. Usually open into June. My current home hill.
  6. 6

    Silverton Mountain

A unique expert skiing experience. Hit it on the right day and it's as good as any heli outfit.
  7. 7
  8. 8
A hidden gem. Quality over quantity.
  9. 9
Unbeatable terrain, but suffers from heavy snow and thaw/freeze cycles.
  10. 10

    Red Mountain Ski Resort

Incredible tree skiing. snow can be a little heavy.
  11. 11

    Kicking Horse Ski Resort

Monster mountain, tough to get to.
  12. 12

    Revelstoke Mountain Resort

See description of Kicking Horse. Monster mountain (I think the most vert in North America), huge pain to get to, nobody there.
  13. 13
Another little gem. Great little town, good terrain.
  14. 14
Yet another little gem. Somewhat spoiled by proximity to Denver, but super-fun steeps.

    Alpine Meadows

Love the vibe, fun mountain, not as expansive or as challenging as its neighbor, Squaw Valley
  16. 16

    Big Sky Resort

I haven't been, but I expect it deserves to be on this list.
