Semester at Sea Fall 1990

I went on this voyage in the Fall of 1990. We left 2 weeks after Iraq invaded Kuwait. Out itinerary was; Vancouver, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, India... We got to India towards the end of November. By then it was apparent that war was imminent so, unfortunately, instead of going through the Suez and up to Egypt, Russia, Turkey, Dubrovnek and Morocco (it was so long ago, I'm not 100% sure these were the places on the itinerary) we headed south and went to Seychells, Kenya, Brazil, Venezuela and ended the day before Christmas in Florida. It was, and still is, the trip of a lifetime. The experiences, friendships and learning cannot be beat.

Galapagos Islands

This was the second part of a trip that Clark and I took in Feb. of 2006. The Galapagos are spectacular. We spent a week on a boat going to all the islands. It is a protected area at the equator where Darwin came up with the origin of species. We snorkeld with penguins, turtles and sea lions. Can't wait to go back and dive.

Camping safari in Kenya

I did this as a part of Semester at Sea. In Kenya I decided to do a 5-day camping trip in Masai Mara. It was spectacular. We camped at various places within the preserve, you'd hear the animals at night. The guide made amazing meals for us each day and we saw amazing game. Even got to see a kill. We had a Masai native as our protector - used had a spear. You must do it! I'll try to scan photos and upload.

Machu Picchu

This was the first part of our trip on 2006. Once we got to Machu, we stayed overnight at the lodge. We got up early the next am to watch the sunrise, and Clark proposed! So special. It's a very sacred and mystical place.

Jordan with the VP & Dr. B

This was my first trip to the Middle East and I was blown away. Jordan is wonderful, such an amazing land and people. Taking a helicopter to Petra (courtesy of the Jordanian Air Force) was such a highlight. Also, floating in the Dead Sea. Had yummy food, especially Hasham - a falafel vendor in the heart of Amman. I can't wait to go back.

South Africa - DVD Region 2

My sister-in-law, Kim, is from South Africa. My brother and his family go back at least once a year. We (them, parents, kath and steven and susie) all joined them for Christmas in 2001. It was so fun. The Caldwell's lived on a farm (country house) outside or Durban. Whenever they left that had to have a house-sitter to watch out for squatters. We went all through Kwa Zulu Natal, to a few great safari parks. At Hluhluwe we saw 2 nighttime kills, herds of elephants and all the usuals. Saw all of the big 6 animals on that trip. Ended it in Cape Town for NYE 2002.

Thailand - Asia, Southeast Asia, Malay Peninsula

My brother Michael and his wife Jamie lived in Bangkok from 2004-2007. We (me, Clark, Tom, Kath, Steven, Megan and Melissa) went to visit them the summer of 2005. We had such a fun time, Thailand is such an easy Asian country to travel through. Most people know English, the food rocks, and people are friendly. And, it's just a trip.

Honeymoon in Europe

We went through London to Venice. Had a great time there. Saw amazing art as the biannual Biennale was taking place. Definitely a must if you love contemporary art. Then we went to Positano for some chill time by the sea. Last stop - Paris. Again, saw amazing art and ate great food.

This was my first adance trip for the administration. It was an honor and a privilege. I can't wait to go back

We went to CR back in 94, had a great time but the roads and food were lack luster.

Big Skye Montana

Montana rocks. It's so chill to just sit outside and read, raft down the river and fly fish and eat some good ole' meat.
