I felt like, in fairness, I should probably include more children's and young adult literature that I read when I was more impressionable, but that seemed like an overall less interesting list.

The book that changed my personal politics forever. Growing up in conservative Orange County, I was never really exposed to the hard truths about American history and how the country we know and love came to be, before reading Howard Zinn.
