During the segment, 'Even Stepvhen', an in-studio mock debate sketch on the Daily Show, both he and Stephen Colbert discussed the rise in popularity of reality TV using Survivor Borneo clips. In 2005, he co-wrote and starred in 'The 40 Year Old Virgin', which featured himself playing a middle-aged man whose social life consisted of watching Survivor with his elderly neighbours. He wrote the 11th episode of the 4th season of 'the Office', titled 'Survivor Man'. The episode was a parody of the Canadian produced reality television series hosted by Les Stroud called 'Survivorman'. In it, Carell's character, Michael Scott, after being excluded from a company nature excursion, tries to prove to himself and his peers that he can survive in the wild.

Conspicuously, the year of the pilot episode in 2006, was the same year that Survivor Panama: Exile Island was airing. Cerie's storyline throughout the series had her become engaged and married by the end of the 4th season to an often talked about, but never seen character named Aris. Further confirming Tina Fey's affinity for unscripted television, after the birth of her second daughter, Penelope, she admitted to spending most of her maternity leave watching reality TV while nursing.

Castaway Motivation: Before Coach Ben Wade, there was Steven Seagal. Not a stranger to the reality television genre, as of 2011, he's been busy with the third season of his own reality show, Steven Seagal: Lawman. Aware that his career and reputation has really taken a pounding since his divorce from Kelly LeBrock, numerous accusations of sexual harassment, and an FBI affidavit detaling allegations of a plot to terrorize a freelance reporter by hiring an infamous private eye, you would think that Seagal might want to lay low for a while. That's not the case. Over the past few years Steven Seagal has been linked with such standout fighters as Anderson Silva, Lyoto Machida and Jon Jones, even taking credit for much of their success. His ongoing feuds in the media with Jean Claude Van Damme and Randy Couture indicate that he takes himself very seriously, and will do what he can to try and stay in the spotlight.

Although she says that she won't let the fame get to her head or interfere with her relationship with AJ McCarron, she's shown that she's not above using reality TV to extend her 15 minutes.
