Last year when Taylor Swift's mother, Andrea Swift, was diagnosed with cancer, the singer made a public announcement to her fans. The pop star addressed all her concerns about her mother's health. Swift has always been very close with her mother, whom she calls her best friend. On her 2008 album Fearless, Swift included a song titled "The Best Day." Despite assumptions that she was writing about another romance, Swift revealed that she penned the song for her mother.

When Beyoncé first joined Destiny's Child, her mother, Tina Knowles, used to sew all of the girls' costumes and outfits. Beyoncé's mother has always been her biggest fan, and the two have remained incredibly close-knit. Last Mother's Day, Knowles wrote a letter addressed to her daughters, as well as Kelly Rowland. She discussed the support she received after making the decision to get a divorce. She wrote: "I remember slumber parties after my divorce, when we watched old movies and ate a lot of ice cream.
