Complete List of 6th Century Popes

This is my chronological list of Popes in order from Pope Hormisdas to Pope Gregory I, with many portraits. Pope John II, who was a part of this time period, was the first pope to not use his personal name, as he was named Mercurius after the pagan god Mercury. As the head of the Roman Catholic Church and the Bishop of Rome, it is the Pope's heavenly duty to spread the gospel of Jesus throughout the Holy See and interpret God's will so Catholics may join God in Heaven. Many Popes achieved sainthood from the Vatican and are revered to this day.
