The capital city of the Republic of Turkey was always and still is Ankara.

However, before the foundation of the republic (before 1923), the country was called the Ottoman Empire and the Ottoman capitals were first Bursa (1326-1365), then Edirne (1365-1453) and finally Istanbul (1453-1922) which was also known as Constantinople.
