It's hard to believe that the Despicable Me minions have only been around for five years. It seems like everywhere you turn there's a minion or minion reference. If you're thinking to yourself "what is a minion?" then you probably don't have kids and will be thankful for all the minions facts on this list. These little buggers took the world by storm in 2010's Despicable Me and haven't stopped since.

Despicable Me was an expected smash hit and its sequel 2013 Despicable Me 2 was an even bigger success making nearly a billion dollars at the box office (and that's before home video sales). With summer 2015's Minions breaking the records set by Despicable Me 2 the minion phenomenon doesn't seem to be stopping any time soon.

There's clearly something special about these these small, Twinkie-shaped, minion-ese speaking, banana-loving henchmen, that the whole world adores.

So we decided to take a look at the franchise and dig up some fun facts about minions - the little yellow guys and the series itself that you may not know. These are the best fun facts about minions, Despicable Me, and more!
