The University of Manchester is one of the renowned and elite English universities located in Manchester, England. The university was formed in 2004 by the dissolution of the Victoria University of Manchester (which was commonly known as the University of Manchester) and UMIST (University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology) and the immediate formation of a single institution inaugurated on 1st October, 2004. The University of Manchester and the constituent former institutions combined have 25 Nobel Laureates among their students and staff. The University of Manchester is today the third largest number of any single university in the United Kingdom behind Oxford and Cambridge.

      I had studied Dalton's theory of atoms in my school days many years ago :-). AND I discovered today that great scientist John Dalton was also an alumni of the University of Manchester - where my son is studying today. What a pleasant surprise!       University of Manchester is well known for Nobel laureates, genius minds and amazing research. Many years ago I visted Jodrell Bank Astrophysics Laboratory of the University, and was impressed with what I saw. I feel the same after reading this list. Thanks for assembling it.

      Great University where you could meet genius scientists and brilliant engineers. I had the best experience when I studied at Owens (U Manchester) in late 70's. It's wonderful to realize that so many great minds also studied and researched at the U Manchester, probably in the same buildings where we had taken our lectures and labs.
