Today, there are vaccines available to prevent people from dying from tuberculosis, but back several hundreds years, the disease strickened many, including a number of famous composers.

Musicians weren't immune from contracting one of the deadliest diseases in the world. Composers like Alfredo Catalani, Henry Purcell and the great Igor Stravinsky were all victims of this infection. Even the iconic American song composer Stephen Foster, who many consider the godfather of American music and came up with some of the greatest songs in American history like "Oh Susanna" and "My Old Kentucky Home" couldn't ward off tuberculosis.

The number of cases of tuberculosis (TB) disease reported in the United States has decreased each year since 1993.
