2015 brings about the reboot of the Fantastic Four movie franchise. Even though Marvel’s first family hasn’t done too well at the theater, they’ve been going strong for over fifty years in the comics. That’s a lot of time to make up in one film. Obviously the reboot isn’t going to cover a half-century of backstory and mythology, but that’s what we’re here for. One of the things that makes the Fantastic Four so cool is that it's one of the only sci-fi comics released by the Big Two (Marvel and DC), and the brand of Cold War era storytelling makes it not only one of the most fun comics, but also one of the most intriguing. Before you go see the new film, do yourself a favor and check out these Fantastic 4 facts.

Fantastic Four is a hard comic to adapt. Over the years, the team has fought antagonists from outer space and other dimensions, as well as creepy magic guys that should be taken care of by Doctor Strange. Heck, Reed Richards and crew have even been to Heaven and chatted with God. How do you synthesize that into a coherent film? If you want to be the person in the theater that everyone is looking to to explain all of the winks to the fandom (and believe us, there’s going to be plenty of them), then study our list of Fantastic Four trivia, and maybe even make a cheat sheet.

Vote up the most interesting piece of Fantastic Four trivia, and if you know something about Marvel’s first foursome, tell us all about it in the comments!

Franklin Richards is our least favorite kind of comic book character. A precocious child who also happens to be an extremely powerful mutant. So when Marvel tried to freshen up their comics in the ’90s, they did a reboot which saw the Fantastic Four and Avengers transported to a new reality where they had a different origin. It was the worst, but also later revealed to be a pocket dimension created by the insanely powerful youngster to save them during a deadly battle with X-Men villain Onslaught.

Everybody knows the basic powers of the Fantastic Four. Mr. Fantastic is stretchy, Sue can turn invisible and create force fields with her power, Human Torch assumes a fiery form, can fly and project fiery blasts with his power, and Thing’s rocky hide grants him superhuman strength and durability. But did you know their powers grant them additional abilities? Reed can shape shift and form his super stretchy body into tools, Sue can simulate telekinesis with her force fields, Johnny Storm can control any fire within his vicinity and manipulate it to his will, and Thing's lung capacity is now so huge that he can go for hours without breathing.
