Born and raised humbly in Detroit, I didn’t know much about designers like Isaac Mizrahi until he and other designers started lower-priced clothing lines at retailers like Target. Very soon thereafter, I was in love. The one thing I especially loved about Isaac Mizrahi fashions is that bright, bold colors, intricate patterns, and rich textures blend with shapes and styles that are still classic. One outfit can easily take you from office to after-5 with just the change of a jacket or handbag. Case-in-point, my current go-to shoe is a pair of goldenrod Isaac Mizrahi croc embossed kitten heels I bought a while ago. They go with my favorite gray power suit, my favorite jeans, my favorite white bermuda shorts, and my favorite little black wrap-around dress.

I had to add Vera Wang to the list, because I’m getting married and I want to be a princess. *stamps foot* The couture line maybe out of many of our budgets, especially if the choice has to come down to clothes or rent, but never fear. For the budget conscious and the simply broke, Vera Wang brings her fashion sense to Kohl’s in a more practically priced clothing line simply called Simply Vera.

Wow, that’s alotta letters. BCBGMAXAZRIA, AKA BCBG first attracted me to this line with an unbridled use of the colors black and bright pink. They had me from jump. There’s already a black and pink mini-dress with my name on it - but I can’t tell you where because it’s on final clearance and I’m still saving up money to get it and I don’t want any of you buying my dress! Anyway, if you really can’t bring yourself to spend your life’s savings on the BCBG line at Macy’s, there is a lower-priced junior’s alternative available at Wal-Mart.
