List Criteria: Upvote your favorite funk rock bands and artists

Fusing elements of funk and rock, funk rock has been popular due its melding of these respectively different genres. Since the 1960s, funk rock has evolved from a niche genre. Then itexploded in the 1980s and 1990s, becoming popular and emerging as a style that dominated the airwaves and album sales. With groovy bass lines, funky drum beats, and distorted guitars, funk rock is something that remains a great influence on rock music today and the best funk rock bands are looked upon fondly by history for their contributions to popular music.

So what are the best funk rock bands and musicians? Whenever you think about funk rock, the first names that come to mind are the likes of Sly & the Family Stone, Parliament, Red Hot Chili Peppers (who actually had Parliament's George Clinton to produce one of their albums), Prince, and Faith No More. These bands are widely recognized as funk rock's best outfits and their position on this list reflects that.

That said, it's up to you to determine what are the best funk rock bands. These funk rock bands are considered top notch, but if you think someone is a glaring omission, feel free to add them.
This list answers the questions "who are the best funk-rock bands of all time?" and "Who is the greatest funk-rock musician ever?" If you know enough about the genre, please vote based on the quality of the band's music, instead of just voting for the most popular funk-rock bands that you might've heard of.
