G.I. Joe: Retaliation Movie Quotes

"G.I. Joe: Retaliation" movie quotes follow the action in the film sequel based on the popular G.I. Joe toy franchise. Directed by Jon M. Chu, "G.I. Joe: Retaliation" was written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. Starring Bruce Willis, Dwayne Johnson, Channing Tatum, Adrianne Palicki, D.J. Cotrona, Arnold Vosloo, Ray Park, Jonathan Pryce, and Lee Byung-hun, "G.I. Joe: Retaliation" opened in theaters on March 28, 2013.

In "G.I. Joe: Retaliation," Roadblock (Johnson) and Duke (Tatum) witness an attack on the squad of G.I. Joes. They soon learn that the attack could have some from only one person, the President of the United States of America (Jonathan Price). But there's a twist. It was not the true president, rather Zartan (Arnold Vosloo) impersonating the President on behalf of the Cobra Commander (Luke Bracey) on a mission to use an advanced weapons system to wipe out entire populations for the biggest shift in wealth the world has ever seen.

With no Joes to back them up, Roadblock, Duke, Lady Jaye (Palicki), and Flint (Cotrona) are forced to call up old friends to help in the battle against the Cobra. For that, they turn to the original G.I. Joe, General Joseph Colton (Willis) who comes out of retirement to help their cause.

If you were more a fan of the G.I. Joe toys rather than the movies, there are plenty of other films that are great like "Olympus Has Fallen," "Admission," "The Croods," "Upside Down," "Ginger & Rosa," "The Call," "The Incredible Burt Wonderstone," "Emperor," "Dead Man Down," "Oz: The Great and Powerful," "Stoker," "Phantom," "Jack and the Giant Slayer," "Dark Skies," "Snitch," "Beautiful Creatures," "Escape From Planet Earth 3D," "A Good Day to Die Hard," "Side Effects," and "Identity Thief."

    We Were Set Up

    Flint: "They're all dead."
Roadblock: "We were set up right from the start. Any and all traces of our existence is terminated."

Roadblock briefs his team on what's happening. They were set up to be eliminated by the President, who authorized the strike against the G.I. Joes.

    Only One Man

Roadblock: "They're all dead and only one man could authorize a strike like that. I voted for him."

Roadblock comes to the conclusion that this attack was not from the enemy they thought it was initially. This had to come from someone closer, someone they elected.

    There's One Man

Flint: "We have to assume that there's no one we can trust."
Roadblock: "There's one man. There's a reason we call ourselves Joes."
General Joseph Colton: "I'll take two cases of Thin Mints and a box of Chuck-a-Lucks."

When they have few allies, the G.I. Joes turn to an old friend for support. General Joseph Colton, the original G.I. Joe, however isn't too welcoming of his visitors, joking that they're selling Girl Scout cookies.

    The Immortal Words of Jay-Z

Roadblock: "In the immortal words of Jay-Z, 'whatever deity may guide my life, dear lord, don't let me die tonight.'"

In a pep talk to his crew, Roadblock shares a Jay-Z quote. With the battle they are facing and with few resources, the Joes might need more than rap lyrics to succeed in this one.

    G.I. Joes Are No More

President: "On my orders, the G.I. Joes were terminated with extreme prejudice. The G.I. Joes are no more."

The President addresses the American people in a press conference following the attack that killed many of the G.I. Joes. He explains that he was responsible for the extermination, but does not reveal that it's actually Zartan who is pulling the strings for the Cobra.

    Security's Early

Roadblock: "So let me get this straight. One whole weekend of you looking after my little girls."
Duke: "Yep, as long as I can bring this. I love your kids but they live to terrorize me."
Roadblock: "They do. Hey Duke, see that?"
    Duke: "Security's early."

Duke and Roadblock are just going about their jobs, discussing Duke watching Roadblock's girls when an attack strikes. This attack however is not from the enemy Cobra however, at least night directly, but a more local source.

    We're a Fist

Roadblock: "Here's how it works. G.I. Joes, we're a fist. How do we strike? Together."

Roadblock explains how the G.I. Joes operate as one unit by using a fist as an analogy. While they might be several people, they attack as one, just like a fist would hit it's target.

    Advanced Weapons System

President: "My fellow world leaders, you're looking at an advanced weapons system capable of destroying each of your countries 14 times over, 15 in the case of North Korea, and all at the push of a button. They say this is a thankless job but I get to blow stuff up."

The President of the United States, or at least Zartan posing as the President, addresses the world leaders who have gathered together. He introduces a new weapons system and pokes a little fun at North Korea.

    The President

Lady Jaye: "What if the President isn't the President?"

Lady Jaye has the realization that the man running the country claiming to be the President, and blowing up the Joes, may not be the President at all. Her suspicions are spot on as it's Zartan who is impersonating the Commander-in-Chief and working for the Cobra Commander.

    Reporting for Duty

General Joseph Colton: "Thought I'd scratch her up. The idle's a little rough in neutral."
Roadblock: "I ain't gonna be in neutral."
    General Joseph Colton: "Well…"
    Roadblock: "What about you?"
General Joseph Colton: "The D.O.D. says I can't come out of retirement. They didn't say anything about reenlisting. Reporting for duty, Sergeant Major."

Prior to heading out in his car, General Joseph Colton talks with Roadblock about his status. While he cannot come out of retirement to return to the G.I. Joes, Joe isn't ready to sit idly by on this mission either.
