Games Afraid to Compete with the Modern Warfare Release

Buzz around the modern warfare release is that this call of duty RPG might be the best call of duty yet. The 'Modern' call of duty 6 already has other '09 video games cowering from its multiplayer modern warfare might, particularly as the November 10 release date draws closer. This isn't even exaggeration, all of these games have seen their release dates pushed back because their developers are too afraid of competing with Modern Warfare 2. This game has alreayd pwned at least 12 other games, and it's not even on the shelves yet. If that ain't badass, I don't know what is.

    Dark Void_Computer Game_General
Dark Void by Capcom for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC revolves around ground and arial combat. You have the opportunity to fly around in a jet pack and hijack UFOs in the air. At the end of the day MW2 grenade launchers have pushed Dark Void into early 2010.

    Bayonetta_Computer Game_General
Bayonetta developed by Platinumgames and published by Sega is about a witch with guns and supposedly powers beyond mortal comprehension. Mortals can comprehend a lot but whatever. Overall Bayonetta can't withstand a fragging from MW2 and is retreating to January 2010.

    Red Dead Redemption_Computer Game
    Red Dead Redemption
If anyone can make a decent game in the western genre it should be Rockstar. As badass as these game makers are they're running from Modern Warfare 2 and releasing Red Dead Redemption in the spring of 2010. This is the most expansive game produced by Rockstar and is being compared to the GTA franchise in terms of game play. No cars but you can jack horses stage coaches and even jump on trains. The game was inspired by the movie The Wild Bunch so it should be bloody as hell. Overall it seems there may finally be a decent game set in the old west.

    Dead to Rights: Retribution_Computer Game
    Dead to Rights: Retribution
Namco Bandai has a new game to add to their Dead to Rights franchise developed by Volatile Games. The protagonist Jack and his dog Shadow run around Grant City kicking the shit out of various criminals and thugs. The graphics are spectacular with slow motion modes that kick in as you put your foot through the face of whomever gets in your way. Still they know to get out of the way of MW2 and have pushed distribution from fall of 2009 to spring of 2010.

    Mafia II_Computer Game_General
Even the mob won't stand up to Modern Warfare 2 and has moved it's release date to January 26, 2010. Published by 2K Games this sequel to Mafia is an open world environment with strong combat controls and the ability to destroy most objects during gameplay. The combat is heavily choreographed so you won't have hoards of enemies charging you, although that is usually half the fun.

    MAG_Computer Game
    MAG
Capable of playing with 255 gamers online MAG is the largest first person shooter ever to hit a console and is exclusive to the PS3. The game is broken down into various battles were players with higher stats can direct teams according to an automatic assignment system. The graphics are intense with a detailed HUD to keep you going. The game was built specifically to avoid lag with all servers hosted by Sony and not individual PS3 consoles. With all this going for them Sony still had to get out of the sights of MW2 and has pushed back MAG's release to January 26th 2010.

    Singularity_Computer Game
    Singularity
Here's another little brother in the Activision family that's moving to avoid Modern Warfare 2. Developed by Raven Software for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC Singularity is a first person shooter with time travel elements. You're hurled between present day and the 1950's. Storyline is original but there are few details about the overall gameplay. The main character Nate carries a device that give him Jedi like powers but he can also shoot shit. Sounds like a game to rent first buy later.

    I Am Alive_Computer Game
    I Am Alive
No not the Celine Dion song you freakin pansy. Ubisoft is breaking into the survival horror genre with I Am Alive. It's based on what appears to be a catastrophic earthquake that may not have been natural. The trailer is short and there's little information on the game. Guess Ubisofts marketing team is on vacation. I Am Alive will be available for the PS3, Xbox360 and PC sometime in 2010. They could probably push it back further and no one would notice.

    Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Conviction_Computer Game_General
Ubisoft has come out with another game in it's Splinter Cell franchise. Sam Fisher the ex-special ops bad ass will have plenty of places to hide in the open world environment. The graphics appear exceptional considering it's just a glorified version of hide and go seek. Splinter Cell Conviction for the PS3 and Xbox 360 has gone into hiding until February 23, 2010.

    Bioshock 2
The long awaited sequal to the hit game Bioshock developed by 2k Marin will have a multiplayer mode so you can get owned by some 12 year old in Korea. As kick ass as this underwater adventure is Big Daddy is no match for Modern Warfare 2. Bioshock 2 has been pushed to February 9, 2010 for the PS3 and Xbox360.

    StarCraft II_Computer Game_General
StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty. Oddly enough the makers of Starcraft 2 Blizzard, is a division of Activision which also owns Infinity Ward the makers of Call of Duty. The highly anticipated release of Starcraft II the sequel to the Real Time Strategy game Starcraft for PC has been pushed back to be released in the first half of 2010. Guess the Zergling rushes will have to wait another year.

    Battlefield 1943_Computer Game
    Battlefield 1943
This sequel to Battlefield 1942 is published by powerhouse EA games and developed by DICE. It's an online multiplayer FPS staged in the WWII pacific theater. It has three islands and three soldier classes. The graphics are superb and the gameplay looks as good as it's predecessor. As badass as EA is they were smart enough to run from MW2 and have pushed Battlefield 1943 release date to later 2009 and will be available for download on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.

HALO FTW!!! I love this game and the controls are arguably better, but there's just no HEART in the CoD franchise!
