Golden Globe Supporting Actress TV Nominees By   [29 more lists]

The Golden Globe Supporting Actress Miniseries/TV Movie nominees combine all of the top supporting actresses between all of television, be it drama, comedy, musicals, miniseries or television movies into a single category. Because of the broad nature of this category, it's quite competitive in comparison to other Golden Globe Awards as the pool from which the five nominees are pulled is much larger. At the 69th Golden Globe Awards, the nominees included Jessica Lange for "American Horror Story," who won the award, Kelly Macdonald for "Boardwalk Empire," Maggie Smith for "Downton Abbey," Sofia Vergara for "Modern Family" and Evan Rachel Wood for "Mildred Pierce."

Supporting actresses may not be the stars of their individual shows but certainly make an impact on the series nonetheless. Where would "The Waltons" be without supporting character Esther Walton, portrayed by 1973 winner Ellen Corby? Would we still watch "Cheers" without the supporting character of Diane Chambers played by 1982 winner Shelley Long? Who can imagine a "Seinfeld" without supporting character Elaine Benes, portrayed by 1993 winner Julia Louis-Dreyfus?

The same goes for the nominees for the 2010 Golden Globe Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-series or Motion Picture Made for Television. "Glee" may have never won the Golden Globe Award for Best TV Comedy or Musical Series without 2010 Best Supporting Actress winner Jane Lynch as Sue Sylvester. "Modern Family" wouldn't be the same without the spicy Sofia Vergara as supporting character Gloria Delgado-Pritchett. "Boardwalk Empire" would be much different without character Margaret Schroeder, portrayed by Kelly MacDonald, and "Dexter" would have a void if not for Julia Stiles as Lumen Pierce.

Just like the Golden Globe Supporting Actor Miniseries/TV Movie Nominees, these fine ladies may not have stolen the show in their respective television series, mini-series or TV movies but without their performances the shows simply would not be the same.
