'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows' quotes are numerous and memorable. Given that 'Deathly Hallows Part 1' and 2 are the last books, and movies, in the wildly popular Harry Potter series, that's not surprising, now is it? As we bid a weepy 'goodbye' to Harry, we must bask in the gloriousness (is that a word?) that is 'Deathly Hallows.' Quotes from Harry himself are always worth listing, but we're also throwing in a hefty dose of dialogue from his buddies, Hermione and Ron, his enemies, including the evil Lord Voldemort, and his mentor - Dumbledore. May he rest in peace.
Check out some of the best quotes from 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.' Don't see your favorite? Add it! Feel free to add to this list, so we'll have the most comprehensive collection of 'Deathly Hallows' quotes around!
Bellatrix Lestrange: "You stupid elf! You could have killed me!" Dobby the House Elf: "Dobby never meant to kill! Dobby only meant to maim, or seriously injure!"
Dobby has NO master. He's a totally free elf, and he's saving the day - by giving his life. We're still pissed at J.K. Rowling for killing our beloved Dobby. So brave, so beautiful. RIP, Dobby.
Minerva McGonagall: "Hogwarts is threatened! Man the boundaries. Protect us!"
Professor Minerva McGonagall is everyone's favorite witch - well, maybe second to Hermione, but there's no denying that McGonagall will fight to the end to save her beloved Hogwarts. Lots of things we'll miss with the ending of the 'Potter' movie series - and Dame Maggie Smith is just one of them.
Flitwick: "You do realize we can't keep out You-Know-Who indefinitely." Minerva McGonagall: "That doesn't mean we can't delay him. And his name is Voldemort, so you might as well use it, he's going to try and kill you either way."
One of the biggest presences missing from 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1?' Professor McGonagall, of course. She's back, and she's ready to kick some tail at Hogwarts.
Harry: "Come on, Tom, let's finish this the way we started it...together!"
And yes, after 10 years of movies and countless hours of reading, it ends where it began: with an epic battle between good and evil, light and dark, and other cliches. Harry vs. Voldemort: Who wins?
Dumbledore: "Do not pity the dead Harry, pity the living. And above all - all those who live without love."
Words of wisdom from dear, departed Dumbledore. Anyone living without love is living a life of misery and ruin. That includes, of course, Lord Voldemort and his band of Death Eaters. Oh, and that creepy Wormtail guy. Yeah definitely him.
Ron Weasley: "You don't know why I listen to the radio, do you? To make sure I don't hear Ginny's name. Or Fred, or George, or Mum." Harry Potter: "You think I'm not listening too? You think I don't know how this feels?" Ron Weasley: "No, you *don't* know how it feels! Your parents are dead! You have no family!"
Ouch. That nasty Horcrux around Ron's neck is definitely working its magic. Never have we seen Ron be such a jerk!
Harry: "The longer we stay here, the stronger he gets."
Yep. You got that right, Harry. Time to move on, as Lord Voldemort really is getting stronger by the second - you'd better find and smush those Horcruxes before this creep takes over everything. You've got one more movie to do it ('Deathly Hallows Part 2'), so hurry.
Ron Weasley: "Going somewhere?" Harry Potter: "Nobody else is going to die. Not for me." Ron Weasley: "For you? You think Mad-Eye died for you? You think George took that curse for you? You may be the Chosen One, mate, but this is a whole lot bigger than that."
Leave it to Ron to set Harry straight. He may be the boy wonder, the one who lived and all of that, but he's thinking way to narrowly. He can't set out to find and destroy the Horcruxes alone - and he won't.
Harry Potter: "You'll stay with me?" Lily Potter: "Always." Sirius Black: "Until the end."
Lily and Sirius have always been with Harry - from the beginning, they've worked to protect him and guide him on this long, long journey. They wouldn't desert him now, would they?!
Lord Voldemort: "I have seen your heart, and it is mine."
Again with the theatrics, Voldemort? Trust us, you can zap Harry dead but you'll never ever have his heart. That'd be reserved for a certain Weasley that isn't Ron. Or the twins. Or Bill.
Alastor 'Mad-Eye' Moody: (hands out Polyjuice Potion) "Fair warning, it tastes like goblin piss." Fred Weasley: "Have lots of experiences with that, do you, Mad-Eye?" (Moody glares at Fred) Fred Weasley: "Just trying to diffuse the tension."
In one of the (rare) funny moments of 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1,' the gang takes polyjuice to throw the Death Eaters off of Harry's trail when they move him. This particular scene also includes Fleur (as Harry) begging everyone not to look at her, as she's "hideous!"
Snape: (to the Hogwart's students) "If anyone here knows any knowledge of Mr. Potter's movements this evening, I invite them to step forward... now." Harry Potter: (Stepping out of the crowd) "It seems despite your exhaustive defensive strategies, you still have a bit of a security problem, Headmaster."
Woo hoo! Anytime Harry one-ups Professor Severus Snape, it's reason to cheer. Even if it puts him in major danger.
Lord Voldemort: "Harry Potter. The boy who lived. Come to die."
Lots and lots of living and dying quotes in 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2.' Because really, that's what it's come to at this point. Any game-playing that went on in years past - that's over. This is an EPIC ending to an EPIC series.
Lord Voldemort: "Why do you live?" Harry Potter: "Because I have something worth living for."
Harry, 1 Voldemort: Zero. Harry has always had something worth living for - something that Voldemort can never understand. He doesn't 'get' love. He never will.
Harry Potter: (to Snape) "Tell them how it happened that night. How you looked him in the eyes, a man who trusted you, and killed him!"
Snape's killing of Dumbledore rocked Harry to the core (and all of us, for that matter). How could he do such a thing to the one person who always, ALWAYS defended him, particularly to Harry?
Rufus Scrimgeour: "These are dark times, there is no denying. Our world has perhaps faced no greater threat than it does today. But I say this to our citizenry: We, ever your servants, will continue to defend your liberty and repel the forces that seek to take it from you! Your Ministry remains, strong."
Never have truer words been spoken. This particular quote, from the beginning of 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1,' clearly sums up what's happening. Dark times, death, destruction, mayhem, all that stuff. And does anyone really believe for a second that the Ministry is still strong? Didn't think so.
Lord Voldemort: "Harry Potter. You have fought valiantly. But you have allowed your friends to die for you, rather than face me yourself. On this night, join me, and confront your fate."
With this one quote (used in nearly all of the 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2' trailers), Lord Voldemort sums everything up: The showdown is coming. It's going to be huge, and fates will be decided.
Lord Voldemort: "I must be the one to kill Harry Potter."
Voldemort, you freaky barefoot snake/rat-faced creep, you just cannot let go of things, can you? You can't just accept things the way they are, you being all dead and stuff, and then move on? Harry lived. Get over it.
Harry struggles throughout the entire 'Potter' series with guilt. He's always blaming himself for putting his friends and supporters in grave danger - but he must understand that this is their choice. They want to fight for the bigger cause.
Think highly of yourself much? Voldemort is absolutely convinced he's totally invincible. Is he? We'll find out in 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2.' If you haven't read or seen, we're not telling.
Lord Voldemort: "Where will he be taken, the boy?" Severus Snape: "To a safe house. Most likely the home of someone in the Order. I've been told he's been given every manner of protection possible. Once there, it will be impractical to attack him."
Snape is such a Slytherin. Total betrayal - he's gone completely over to the dark side, right? Or is he just afraid Voldemort might feed him to Nagini if he's not up front?
