List Rules If you just know the Sorting Hat would have made you a Ravenclaw, vote up the "adult Ravenclaw" feelings you feel the most.

Ravenclaw may have the most eclectic members of all the Hogwarts Houses in Harry Potter. They range from Luna Lovegood to Cho Chang and thanks to extra sources we know that Gilderoy Lockhart, Filius Flitwick, Quirinus Quirrell, and Sybill Trelawney were all Ravenclaws as well. But among all who are sorted into Ravenclaw, wisdom, individuality and learning are held in the highest regard.

What about after school though? It’s easy to lose touch with your inner Ravenclaw a bit after you graduate. You’re not surrounded by your housemates or spending time in the common room every day and you’re stepping into the adult world, with all the serious business that entails.

But there are times when the real world brings forth your adult Ravenclaw. There are also plenty of times when sentimental old school antics take over or when Ravenclaw memes are just perfect for your grown up life. If you’ve ever found yourself feeling the feels described below, they’re good indicators for how to know you're a Ravenclaw - one who's all grown up!

You don’t care what people think of your idiosyncrasies.

Ravenclaws pride themselves on their eccentric quirks. You know you’re an adult Ravenclaw if you still break out into random song or randomly quote shows or movies, even at work or around the office. It doesn’t matter if nobody else get the reference, as long as it captures your feeling in the moment.

You look for friends who also don’t like small talk.

Introversion is common among Ravenclaws, and when you’re an adult, you have even less patience for shallow conversations. With an adult Ravenclaw mind, you like to keep friends who will stimulate you mentally. Why gossip and agree with each other all day when there are vexing issues just waiting for a clever answer to be unearthed through rigorous debate?

Critical thinking is very important to you.

This is where the whole “ready mind” thing comes into play. Ravenclaws are the best at learning throughout their lives and the wisest learners know that how you think is far more important than what you think. In the adult world critical thinking broadens your perspectives even further and compels you to make informed decisions about everything from politics to food to finances.

You miss the actual schooling part of school.

If you were one of the lucky students to figure out what field you wanted to pursue (or at least what you were passionate about) before getting to college, chances are you enjoyed the college experience. Your major was something that genuinely excited you and you were eager to learn as much as you could about it. Plus, being in an academic setting where you could pursue it was fulfilling.

You keep rooms full of books.

Even with the busy schedule of an adult and all the tempting convenience of tablets and e-readers, you still collect hardcopy, actual, made-of-paper books. Hardcover, paperback, maybe it’s all the same to you. What matters is seeing the book and holding the book in hand. Arranging a whole series spine to spine on the shelf, getting tunnel vision for the world and the characters printed on the pages - for you, there’s nothing like it.

You obsess over finding the right word to describe things.

Why call a good weather day “nice,” when you can call it “pleasant,” “agreeable,” or “auspicious”? As an adult Ravenclaw, you’ve relished the opportunity to improve your diction and develop your vocabulary's repertoire. You may not get to use them as often as when you took the NEWTs SATs but it’s still impressive. Especially when you finish your friends’ sentences for them.

Your day dreams get very esoteric.

Not all nerds are Ravenclaws, and not all Ravenclaws are nerds. But if you’re a Ravenclaw, a nerd, and a fan, you get to a whole new level as an adult. What would happen if you couldn’t answer the Ravenclaw common room riddle at night, and all your friends were in bed already, and you couldn’t get to your homework to finish it before class the next day? Would McGonagall punish you? For what, being dim, careless? What about Flitwick?!

You question traditions and the status quo.

The explanation of “we have always done it this way” does not satisfy you. Especially as you get older and get more context in a variety of situations. You see so many ways that the world could be better, happier, and more productive.
