Pick a Good Title
The best titles make the topic of the list very clear while also hinting at the awesomeness held within. More details are better. For example, wouldn't you rather read a list called "20 Gritty Hardcore Spaghetti Westerns" than "20 Good Westerns"? - 2
Share Your List on Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, Digg and Others
When you publish your list initially, you'll be taken to a page that includes some options for sharing your work, as well as some boxes allowing you to add descriptions, lists and tags. We call this the "publication" page...It lets you know that your list was posted to Ranker and went great!
At the top of the publication page, you'll see a list of some of the sites we really like, and where Ranker lists traditionally do really well. You can find these same sites at the bottom of every page of your actual list, right above the comments section. Clicking on any of these logos will prompt you to sign up for or log in to the service you have selected. We love having our users share their work on these other sites, and it's one of the main ways we introduce Ranker to new people.
The first two buttons on this page will allow you to connect Ranker to your Twitter and/or Facebook account, and help you post your new list for all your friends to see. You can also quickly share your work - or any Ranker list - with Twitter or Facebook directly from the list page. Find the Twitter and Facebook "Like" buttons directly under the list title.
No matter what site you're using to promote your work, we ask that you are respectful of these communities and a good citizen of the Web. Only post lists you really like, that represent your best work. And limit your posts to a few at a time. - 3
Pick a Good List Image
If you haven't chosen a photo to go along with your list, we'll just pick the photo that goes along with the item ranked #1. In either case, make sure this photo looks nice and is a solid representation of your list and topic. People are far more likely to check out your list if it's accompanied by a great image. (For more information about adding photos, see our guide to How to Make a List on Ranker. - 4
Tag Your List
Adding "tags" is a great way to make your list come up in searches more frequently on Ranker, and it also helps Google and other search engines discover your work on our site! You have the option to add tags to your list on the publication page.
Don't add too many tags, or off-topic ones, but putting in a few can't hurt. To add tags, just click the "Add Tag" button. Ranker will scan your list and suggest a few tags, but if we don't come up with the word you think is best, search for it in the box provided and check off all the terms you think apply directly to your page. - 5
Embed Your List on Your Blog
Ranker is a great, fast and fun way to generate new content for your blog. To add your list directly to your blog, scroll to the bottom of the publication page and find a section called "Embed Your List Onto Your Site." This has all the instructions, options and codes you'll need to put your list on any blogging platform you'd like! You can also customize some basic options, like the size and design of the embedded widget.
