Space and Time Trilogy 1. An average man is kidnapped and taken to Mars. A rites of passage story.

Space and Time Trilogy 2: Elwin Ransom is back and is going to Venus this time. He discovers another Eden. But this time he's there to try to persuade Eve from listening to the serpent (the "un-man"). So beautifully written but not scientifically accurate.

Space and Time Trilogy 3: Apocalypse and alternate-history. After WWII a British scholar struggles with psychological manipulation and world takeover. Written to be very believeable.

Of all the Chronicles of Narnia, this is my favorite one. Listen to the psychological warfare that goes on throughout the book.

God spoke to me personally with this book. At a certain point in the story a sincere but misguided accolyte of Tash (enemy of Aslan) swears allegience to Aslan when he discovers Tash is not worthy of his faith. It is because of this discussion that I was told that someone I'd been praying for for years will be in Heaven. Doesn't happen often at all, but yes I'm 100% sure it was God and that's what He said.
