The Mandarin issues a stern warning to the people of America and Tony Stark personally. His words are meant to strike fear into the people but Tony Stark does not appear frightened in the least.

Tony Stark: "Things are different now. I have to protect the one thing that I can't live without. That's you."
In speaking with his main squeeze Pepper Potts, Tony explains that he has to do everything in his power to protect her. Yes, that means putting himself in a dangerous spot, something she's not too keen on, but it's what has to be done.

Good Old Fashioned Revengev
Tony Stark: "Here's a little holiday greeting I've been wanting to send to The Mandarin. I just didn't know how to phrase it until now. My name is Tony Stark and I'm not afraid of you. I know you're a coward so I've decided that you just die, pal. I'm gonna come get the body. There's no politics here, just good old fashioned revenge! There's no Pentagon, it's just you and me. On the off chance you're a man, here's my home address: 10880 Malibu Point, 90265. I'll leave the door unlocked. That's what you wanted, right?"
Tony Stark, in talking to reporters, gives The Mandarin a personal message to vow that he is coming after the evil enemy. Tony Stark even goes as far as inviting him over, listing his address so The Mandarin can step up as a man and confront him back.

Talking to Pepper Potts, Tony Stark expresses his remorse for bringing her into this situation between him and The Mandarin. It was for good reason though and he has no plans to abandon the cause before he wins.

Tony Stark: "How many in the air, Jarvis?"
Jarvis: "14, sir"
Tony Stark: "How many can I carry?"
Tony Stark: "Oh boy"
Flying around thousands of feet in the air trying to save people from an exploding airplane, Tony Stark is irked that he can only carry four people when 14 are falling. In reality, anyone who can fly around and carry even one other person falling out of an airplane should get a medal, let alone someone who can carry four.

President Ellis: "You elected me on a single platform. I will defend this country at all costs. The Mandarin must be stopped!"
The president addresses the nation to give them an update on what he's doing to defend against The Mandarin. Ellis vows to protect the country and its people using whatever means are necessary to stop The Mandarin.

The Mandarin: "I'm gonna offer the choice: Do you want an empty life, or a meaningful death?"
Being the nice guy that he is (not really), The Mandarin offers Tony Stark an out before they wage an epic battle which likely only one will survive. He lets Tony Stark choose between having an empty life of a noble death.

We Do Need Backup

James Rhodes: "That's your department."
Tony Stark: "There's my boys."
James Rhodes, Tony Stark's best buddy and mastermind behind Iron Man's upgraded War Machine, gets a little nervous when they are soon outnumbered by the enemy. No fear though as Tony Stark has backup soon approaching.

Heroes, There Are No Such Thing
The Mandarin: "Ladies, children, sheep, some people call me a terrorist. I consider myself a teacher. Lesson number one: Heroes, there is no such thing."
Talking smack again, The Mandarin tries to turn the American people against Iron Man by claiming that there are no heroes. Like any good action movie however, you can guess that there are indeed heroes and usually the good guys win.
