The Station Fire is just LA's first taste of the 2009 fire season. Here's your Ranker resource for fire updates and news about Los Angeles fires. Will do my best to keep it updated as the season goes on.
The fire is currently at 16,400 acres and growing. The fire is currently 40 percent contained. The LA Fire Department is assisting firefighters battling the blaze in Fillmore. "Pursuant of a formal Mutual Aid Request, the Los Angeles Fire Department has assigned one Strike Team of firefighters and one contract Helitanker to assist the Ventura County Fire Department and allied agencies in their battle against a brush fire near Fillmore, California, 20 miles northwest of our City."

From the LA County Fire Department website: It is with our deepest regret to inform you the media of the Line Of Duty Deaths for Fire Captain Tedmund "Ted" Hall and Firefighter Specialist Arnaldo "Arnie" Quinones. These two members tragically lost their lives when they were overrun by a fast moving fire which approached Fire Camp 16 on the "Station Fire" Incident.
