    Guiberson Fire

    The fire is currently at 16,400 acres and growing. The fire is currently 40 percent contained. The LA Fire Department is assisting firefighters battling the blaze in Fillmore. "Pursuant of a formal Mutual Aid Request, the Los Angeles Fire Department has assigned one Strike Team of firefighters and one contract Helitanker to assist the Ventura County Fire Department and allied agencies in their battle against a brush fire near Fillmore, California, 20 miles northwest of our City."

    Station Fire Update 9/24/09

    * This very dry air combined with very hot daytime temperatures and winds of 5-10 mph with gusts to 15 mph remain a concern. However, firefighters remain vigilant and full containment of the fire is expected by midnight tonight.
    * Several species of wildlife have been seen moving through the burn area. Wildlife are expected to move away from the burn area ahead and outside the perimeter of the fire. There may be an increase in wildlife sightings in and around the foothill communities.
    * Containment: 94%
    * Acres: 160,557 acres at this time.
    * Cause: Arson and is now a homicide investigation. Contact LA County Sheriff's Department at (323) 573-2387 with questions
    * A variety of state, local agencies and programs are available to help homeowners. These include FEMA, Natural Resource Conservation Service, and the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works. Residents who have not yet met with a flood-control engineer but would like to schedule a visit may call (800) 214-4020 and review the LA County DPW's "Homeowner's Guide for Flood, Debris and Erosion Control".

    * Containment: 38%
    * Acres:144,753 acres at this time.
    * Fire Behavior: Fire behavior is extremely active with rapid rates of spread and flame lengths up to 80 feet.
    * Cause: Under investigation
    * 94 structures have been destroyed
    * 2 Firefighter fatalities
    * 6 injuries

    * Containment: 22%
    * Acres:140,150 acres at this time.
    * Fire Behavior: Fire behavior is extremely active with rapid rates of spread and flame lengths up to 80 feet.
    * Cause: Under investigation
    * 92 structures have been destroyed
    * 4128 personnel deployed on incident
    * 2 Firefighter fatalities
    * 6 injuries

    Pendleton Fire Update 10:35am 9/2/09

    Acres Burned: 860 acres
    Containment: 70% contained; Full containment expected September 4, 2009.
    Threatened: 400 residences threatened.
    Evacuations: Evacuation orders have been changed from Mandatory to Advisory. Only residents are being allowed back into the fire area.
    Injuries: 1
    Cause: Under Investigation
