List of the best reggae albums of all time, as ranked by Mojo Magazine. From superstars like The Skatalites and The Maytels to more obscure acts, all the top reggae artists and recordings are represented in this list, originally published by Mojo's editors in August of 2002. This 50 reggae albums are a solid primer for those who are new to the genre, and a great resource for completist reggae fans.

Reggae music first appeared in Jamaica in the 1960s, following the introduction of ska and rocksteady music. It is characterized by a dependency on "off-beat" or "skank" rhythm, and it's thought that the term "reggae" itself derives from Jamaican slang for raggedy or disheveled clothing. (Reggae superstar Bob Marley, however, argued that the word was derived from the Spanish term for "king's music.")

This collects the Top 50 Reggae Albums Ever Produced, as decided by the editors of Mojo Magazine. Don't be a bumbaclot! Check it out!
