Wanted

This is here for the first half of the movie. Before poor Wesley (the amazing James McAvoy) learns about his secret life as an assassin, he is a confused, clumsy, anxious office worker constantly abused by his obese boss who publicly humiliates him every chance she gets. On top of that, the guy who sits across the cubicle? Doing his girlfriend. When he breaks out of his shell, they get theirs. Totally worth it.

Fight Club

Ed Norton's character is another of my favorite disgruntled employees. He only knows what day it is based on what color tie his boss is wearing. That's how much he cares. In fact, it's hard for him to care about anything. At all. To try to seek some form of interest in the world, life...he starts going to self-help groups to see if maybe he can put some perspective on things. Then he meets Tyler Durden. If you haven't seen this yet. Just go buy it. It's worth it.

American Beauty

Lester Burnham is our disgruntled employee in this film. From the moment you meet Lester, you kinda feel bad for the guy. He's not awesome, but he's not terrible, either. And most importantly, he hates his job. Which makes it that much better when he decides to blackmail his boss....

Okay, so he's unemployed. He's just disgruntled with life. Taking matters into his own hands, he decides the world needs a little more justice. On his way home, you see him encounter situation after situation that would annoy someone having a regular day. He isn't having a regular day. Phenomenal film.

The Devil Wears Prada

I quite enjoyed this one, as well! A movie about a girl who gets someone else's dream job, doesn't love it, tries to love it and ultimately learns a ton of life lessons! Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, Stanley Tucci and Meryl Streep are great together in this film!

Working Girl

I haven't seen this yet, and I can't, for the life of me, figure out why. Starring Harrison Ford, Sigourney Weaver and Melanie Griffith, IMBD.com says: "When a secretary's idea is stolen by her boss, she seizes an opportunity to steal it back by pretending she has her boss's job."

Costars Joan Cusack and Alec Baldwin. Looks hilarious.

Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy

What do I say about this movie? It's one of THOSE movies. You know, the ones that star Will Farrell or Ben Stiller. Utterly over-the-top and if you can get past that, stupid funny. This movie is all about a man who thinks he's the best news reporter around, until he gets some competition. If you like the goofy, see it.

Clerks.

The ULTIMATE disgruntled employee movie? What to say? If you've yet to see 'Clerks' you need to check it out. Because you're missing out. If you've ever had a 'clerk' job, you more than identify with these characters. We all have days like this. Well, maybe not EXACTLY like this, but you'll see! By the way, you'll laugh your ass off.

Teaching Mrs. Tingle

We would love for teachers to be invested in our students, right? Mrs. Tingle (Helen Mirren) takes it a bit too far...she's got favorites. And not the kind you pay more attention to, but grade-wise. She intends to sabotage Leigh Ann's (Katie Holmes) grades based purely on prejudice. When Leigh Ann goes to her home to confront her about it, she ends up somehow holding her teacher hostage. I can't recommend this movie enough! It really flew under the radar, but I thought it was a fantastic film!

I'd say see this movie for Dolly Parton, alone. She's hilarious. The rest of the cast is fabulous, too. If not for that, see it for the revenge. The sweet, sweet revenge.

Clerks II

Clerks 2....was more of a big-budget film than it's predecessor, and therefore, was able to do more things in more locations, get bigger actors, etc. I have to admit I liked it, not as much as the original, but it DEFINITELY had it's moments. The fact that both Randy and Dante are in it again was enough to hook me. Dear God, there's also a donkey. You know you're interested...

Empire Records

Ah, the dream job...to work in a record store. I'd work in a record store right now. Today. A bunch of misfits, including but not limited to, Liv Tyler, Ethan Embry, Robin Tunney and Renee Zellwegger all working at a record store, band together to try to stop their beloved workplace from being bought up by a major chain. Of course, in-between all that, wackiness ensues.

Waiting...

When this movie came out, I thought 'It's about time someone made a movie about the people who work in food services'. Most of us have. If that's the case, you spend most of the movie laughing at remembering what it was like to work at a place where no one (except your coworkers) appreciates what you do, but they expect to to hop-to all the same.

If you HAVEN'T worked in food services before, be prepared for a behind-the-scenes look. You may get grossed out. But maybe you'll take this with you: be nice to the people who serve you food.

Swimming with Sharks

This poor, poor guy. 'Guy' is a Hollywood studio assistant working for a top-dollar producer boss played by Kevin Spacey. Incredible irritable and rude, he constantly finds ways to put Guy down, embarrass him and treat him like the scum of the earth. Well, we all know what that means...time for some well-deserved revenge.

Morning Glory

This film is about a brand-new television producer (Rachel McAdams) who is trying to revive a morning show that is clearly hopeless. The co-anchors (Dianne Keaton and Harrison Ford) can't be bothered to get along, even on public TV. Costars Jeff Goldblum and Patrick Wilson.

The follow-up to 'Waiting...' was not as fresh and original as the first, but with some fun cameos and some friends around, it's a decent sequel. If you liked the first one, that is.

Office Space

I may have been wrong when I said 'Clerks' was the ultimate disgruntled employee film. Maybe it's a tie? Anyway, these guys ALSO work in an office, and ain't none of them happy about it. There's an underlying storyline about Jennifer Aniston's character working at a restaurant she absolutely loathes. And then add another layer with poor Milton and his little red stapler....SEE THIS.

Employee of the Month

Two supermarket employees (Dane Cook and Dax Shepard) struggle to win the title 'Employee of the Month' by trying to be the best, or first, at everything. This movie would have been perfect if not for Jessica Simpson. I don't know what happened, but every time she walked on screen, it was so flat and unbelievable you couldn't help but be disappointed. If you can get past her, the guys have the story, and it's a funny tale.

I have yet to see this one, but it's on my list 'o things to devour. About a bunch of ladies working in an office called 'Global Credit Association'. Sounded like it would fit on the list. Younger Toni Colllette, Parker Posey, Lisa Kudrow and Alana Umach (Naomi from 'Waiting') star.

Caffeine

A quirky little film about a Cafe and its employees and patrons that's comparable to 'Waiting...' in that way. It was a decent indie film with some great actors and some messed-up situations. I quite enjoyed it.

Extract

Jason Bateman stars in this quirky and fun movie about a man who owns an extract plant, has advantage-taking employees and may also have a cheating wife. Then we meet Mila Kunis's character. She's a con artist who just started working at the plant. Shake it all up and see what you get. Recommended.

Secretary

Have yet to see this. IMDB: "A young woman, recently released from a mental hospital, gets a job as a secretary to a demanding lawyer, where their employer-employee relationship turns into a sexual, sadomasochistic one."

Starring James Spader and Maggie Gyllenhaal. Everyone I've spoken to about it says it's a great movie. We shall see.
