Movies Being Promoted At San Diego Comic-Con 2011 By Comic Curator [1 more lists]
Though a number of top studios will be skipping the annual event, the movies promoted at the San Diego Comic-Con 2011 include some of the most anticipated of the year. Held between July 21 and July 24, 2011, at the San Diego Convention Center, San Diego Comic-Con 2011 is expected to include previews of highly awaited movies like the Jon Favreau western ""Cowboys and Aliens,"" the Steven Spielberg 3D film ""The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn"" and others based on comics such as ""The Avengers,"" ""The Amazing Spider-Man"" and ""Captain America: The First Avenger."
The San Diego Comic-Con International is known for attracting some of the best movies, television shows, comics and video games as well as some of the most hardcore fans, who pack the conventional halls and panels in search of a sneak peek of the next new hot film or series. In past years, the four-day convention has been the first place to see previews and trailers of some of the hottest movies and television shows, like ""LOST,"" ""Iron Man"" and the ""Twilight"" series.
The overwhelming demand for tickets to the San Diego Comic-Con makes it a hotbed for studios to expose their new works to eager fans. Despite the event selling out each year well in advance, some studios in 2011 decided to skip the convention and take their work other places. For 2011, big films like ""The Dark Knight Rises,"" ""Man of Steel"" and ""The Hunger Games"" are not expected to attend.
In addition to the big films that make a splash at Comic-Con each year, the event also includes an international independent film festival. Juried by renowned names in film, the festival selects some of the best independent movies from around the world from various categories and allows them to compete for one of several awards.
Be it the big names at the packed panels or the indie flicks screened throughout the weekend, the San Diego Comic-Con has a little bit of everything for comic and film lovers alike.
