My Actors of the 00s By mathayus [39 more lists]
These are the actors (male and female) who I've enjoyed the most in movies made this decade. This isn't quite the same as "favorite actors". For example, I like Angelina Jolie, but for the most part, I don't actually like her movies. To make this list, you've got to be in movies I like, and be part of the reason I like the movies.
It's also a bit of a wake up call formalizing this list. I'd have thought Kate Winslet would be on the list, but turns out, over recent years I've *meant* to see a lot more of her movies than I actually saw.
- 11963Arizona Dream, Public Enemies, Wild Roses, Tender Roses, The Astronaut's Wife, Donnie Brasco, Sonic the Hedgehog, 21 Jump Street, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Benny & Joon, Blow, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Chocolat, Corpse Bride, Cry-Baby, Dead Man, Don Juan DeMarco, Ed Wood, Edward Scissorhands, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Finding Neverland, Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare, From Hell, Nick of Time, Once Upon a Time in Mexico, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, Platoon, Private Resort, Secret Window, Shantaram, Sleepy Hollow, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, The Brave, The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus, The Libertine, The Man Who Cried, The Ninth Gate, The Rum Diary, What's Eating Gilbert Grape, Pirates of the Caribbean films, Cannes Man, Before Night Falls, Ils se marièrent et eurent beaucoup d'enfants, Slow Burn, Alice in Wonderland, SpongeBob vs. The Big One, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, When You're Strange, Rango, The Devil, The Sinner, and His Journey, The Tourist, Dark Shadows, The Lone Ranger, L.A. Thompson, Deep Sea 3D, Brando: The Documentary MoreOwensboroUnited States of America“ Hands down the top actor around right now for me. Great talent, and great choice of movies.Took what I thought would be a joke of a movie in Pirates of the Caribbean and made the most iconic performance I've seen in years out of it. „

An actor can have great talent and great taste, but if they don't have clout, it's not easy for them to climb on a list like this. But Maggie's managed to consistently be in movies I love, and often playing roles that absolutely stuck with me. Secretary and Stranger than Fiction stand out particularly. „

Most known for 40 Year Old Virgin which was great, but his performance in Little Miss Sunshine is my favorite. „

I've seen more of his movies this decade than any other performer. Typically he'll provide a good enjoyable time, without what I'd call excellence, but he's still gotten up there some, particularly if you include his non-movie theater performances on SNL and online. „

Glad to see him getting more attention now with Iron Man, but he's been doing great work for quite a while. A Scanner Darkly is my personal fave, but Zodiac was great, and Tropic Thunder was crazy. Here's hoping Sherlock Holmes is as good as it should be. „

He's slowed down a bit from the 90s, but he's still doing some great work. Cast Away and Ladykillers are good enough that we'll just not talk about Dan Brown. „

I became a fan of both him and Affleck after Good Will Hunting, but while Affleck hasn't picked movies to my taste, Damon has. Departed was great, and the Bourne movies are bar none the best action movies of this era. „
- 101968SydneyAustralia“ I'm a sucker for a good comic book performance, and seeing Jackman go from that to series drama and not-so-serious musicals is pretty dang impressive. „
