My Artists of the 00s By mathayus [39 more lists]
These are the musical acts who've impacted me the most with their work from this decade.
Making the distinction here because I want it to be a new work - seems pretty lame for Jimi Hendrix to be an "artist of the 00s" when he's been dead for decades. Not being too anal about what qualifies though - so for example, if an album came out in 1999 and I didn't listen to it then, it's fair game.

What a decade for Jack White. Still though, despite his work on the Raconteurs, solo work, etc, I've got no qualms about putting just his work with the White Stripes at #1. Working with Meg, the music that's come out been wide open. I'm never sure quite what's going to happen next, but I know it will be worth hearing. -

If I were ranking the overall impact an artist had on me this decade, Elliott would be #1. I was a fan of his in the 90s, but the 90s work resonates more with me now than then.
His work in the 00s though is easily enough to put him high on this list. Listening to "From a Basement on a Hill" for the first time was just devastating. I wish we'd have gotten to see what he'd do after that. - 3
