My Coachella 2008 By Clark Benson [94 more lists]
A terrific, diverse year. Ranked them in order of preference but there were many highlights.
- 1This set blew me away as much as perhaps any band I have ever had low or vague expecations going into. I had a few of their albums before this that I considered 'marginal keepers'. I sat by the side of the stage and heard them play basically long jammed out versions of songs that were to come out 8 months later on Merriweather Post Pavillion, as well as the best song off Person Pitch - I hadn't heard a single song in other words before seeing this and was utterly mesmerized - so much so that we didn't leave our spot and ended up sadly missing much of Portishead as a result, but at a festival you sometimes just have to "split the baby".BUY @ amazon

- 2The most anticipated set I saw all year. I wasn't disappointed, though I wish it was longer than an hour. Hung out with some old and dear friends who were all huge Verve fans back in the day and all of us had s**t eating grins the whole time.BUY @ amazon

- 5Was shocked at how accessible this was - danced the whole time. Had only seen Aphex once before, at a rave downtown circal 93 or 94, and the memories were dim.BUY @ amazon
