My Favorite Movie Moments Anything

My Favorite Movie Moments By   [218 more lists]

These are my favorite movie moments of all time. Maybe not the best moments in the film or even of all time, but MY favorite moments. I know it's a little Spielberg-heavy, but what can I say? The perfectly put-together scene is one of his greatest strengths.

Glenn and Dot Visit in Raising Arizona

It's so hard to pick just one moment in this movie. And really, I guess I don't have to. But the entire scene when HI's boss Glenn comes to have lunch with his family... the entire thing is brilliant from beginning to end. T-I-G-E-R!

When John Hurt has a Stomach Ache in Alien

First time I saw this scene, as I'm sure it was with everyone else who did who didn't already know it was going to happen... I couldn't sleep for a week.

The TRex Attacks in Jurrasic Park

Greatest buildup of suspense and general maintenance of tension EVER.

    Very cool list idea.

The Saving Private Ryan scene is one of the most overwhelming experiences I've had while watching a movie.

The Lobby scene is something. This is the scene where it really hits you - they're killing a ton of innocent people, and I'm loving it.

Yes (except for Jurassic Park, a film that i found painful to watch, but for all i know that might be the one standout moment, since I erased the whole movie from my memory)

The movie itself can be uneven ... but that one scene, starting with the water trembling in the cup and ending when the SUV falls out of the tree... is some of the most masterful management of an action scene ever. To me, it's a scene that exemplifies Spielberg's greatest strengths as a filmmaker. He utterly understands how to play his audience and use every element at his disposal. He is a master manipulator.

Love actors' nonverbal response in this scene! Good timing:\n SC:"get your hands up" (trin & neo look at e/o then whip out guns)\nAnd this one (train station):\nSmith:"you're out" Neo:"So are you". (Weaving's look is both automated and frustrated! love it.)

Great list! I'd do my own, but looks like it will take too much work!

When Heston Realizes it was Earth All Along at 5/15/2011 11:38 AM
call it power of suggestion, but clearly:\ncharlton heston is the *only* actor capable of doing this scene right.

another great example of timing! this one's all about harrison ford's personality though. which is why he's great.

My parents had to explain this to me - after all these years, it still confuses me.

Small bit of trivia: in order to make the water move in the plastic cup, Spielberg rigged a guitar string to the vehicle and plucked it. Each time he plucked it, it made the water move. Yes, I'm a nerd.
