This is one of my favorite hikes of all time. It can be done in two and half days if you push hard, but it's better done in a leisurely 4 day 3 night jaunt. Don't go in the early spring, the water is too cold to make it enjoyable. In the early summer or early fall is best -- tho watch for flash flooding in early fall. It's dramatic and gorgeous and every corner you turn, you get a new canyon. Fabulous.

Too many great hikes in this area to count, but some of my favorites are Death Hollow and Coyote Gulch. Either one of those will give you a real (tho totally different) taste of the Escalante basin. Coyote is a little longer, but more traditional... while Death Hollow gives you a day's worth of hiking over the sandstone along the Boulder Mail Trail.

My old standby has always been Frontenac Provincial Park, north of Kingston Ontario Canada. A great interior park with some super hikes, good paddling, and nice sites for overnights. http://www.articlesbase.com/health-articles/ultimate-max-burn-reviews-1805607.html

Does the Vancouver Island still have that Suspension Bridge. I remember when I was little I went to Vancouver for my brothers hockey tournament and we went on a hike one day and had to go over the scariest suspension bridge. Im pretty sure I cried.

It had that bridge the last time I was there, but that was in '89. I assume it must still be there, how else to cross those ravines?

Great list! I'm a big fan of Montana and the Utah wilderness, and you've got great selections. I suggest everyone try every one of these spots out. You'll get everything from rain forests to the beautiful desolation of the red-rock Utah deserts.

We have matched and added your list to this consensus list. Why?
