  3. Van Halen
    October, 1977
Six Flags Magic Mountain Showcase Amphitheater

This was about six months before first album came out. I worked at the park at the time and had no clue who they were. I was just went to the show after work because I had nothing better to do.

Needless to say, I was floored and went to school on Monday raving about this new band.

This had tremendous impact on my life. I would not see the band again until DLR toured with them in 2008.
  4. Rolling Stones & Guns 'N Roses
    October 25, 1989
    Los Angeles Coliseum
    Los Angeles, CA

Proposed to my wife in our front row seats just as the fireworks exploded launch the band into "Start Me Up"

Also got a great soul-shake from Axl Rose after he fell off the stage.
  5. U2 is listed (or ranked) 5 on the list My Top 10 Rock 'N Roll Experiences

    Long Beach, CA

I still can't believe I saw them in such a small place!

Not only were U2 amazing, but the Waterboys' set lead me to go out the next day and buy every one of their albums
  6. Guns N' Roses is listed (or ranked) 6 on the list My Top 10 Rock 'N Roll Experiences

    Officially welcomed to the jungle.
  7. Billy Idol
    Roosevelt Hotel Bar Hollywood, CA

    Music industry event

Less than 100 people in a small bar.

Dennis Burkley, the guy who played Bull-Dozer in the movie MASK hopped up on stage to sing "LA Woman" with Billy
  8. Bruce Springsteen
    November 3, 1980
    LA Sports Arena
    Los Angeles, CA

Front row, first time seeing was one of his notoriously LONG shows that clocked in at over three hours.

Because of this show, I couldn't pull myself out of bed to take a Journalism mid-term later that morning, causing me to fail the class.

In fairness to other artists, I'm only including one Bruce show for this list!
