Anyone who has new or valuable ideas to offer stands outside the intellectual status quo. But the status quo is not a stream, let alone a 'mainstream'. It is a stagnant swamp. It is the innovators who carry mankind forward."

      I remember what Dalai Lama said in his interview: "We had a rule in Tibet that anyone proposing a new invention had to guarantee that it was beneficial, or at least harmless, for seven generations of humans before it could be adopted." As we read this list, we begin to appreciate how these inventors and inventions have helped our society, and made it stronger for several generations to come. Excellent compilation.

      This is truly an amazing list of innovators. I came to know that Michael Jackson is not just a great show artist but also the inventor (of gravity-defying illusions and shoes to do that act). Hedy Lamarr was a beautiful actress and also the genius inventor. The facts are really fascinating. Brilliant work.
