Operas That Will Bring Tears To Even The Driest Of Eyes

These are the operas that will make you cry. They might make you laugh, and they'll certainly make you sing, but more than anything else, they will make you cry. Even if you have dry eyes and you're in the desert and you're all out of Visine. They're just that moving.

Now, that's not to say these are all depressing. Some of them (The Magic Flute, Pirates of Penzance, etc) are actually quite uplifting. But, whether it's conveying major melancholy or great glee, the music is still powerful enough to pull tears from even the most parched pupils.

So, sit back, pour yourself a glass of pinot, and let one of these records rip. Just make sure you have tissues handy.
