Other September 11th Celebrations
Today we remember the tragic events of September 11th, 2001. But if you ever wanted to know what else to celebrate on this day (in addition to or enhance of, not replace of 9/11 celebrations) here's a list! Also, check out http://www.MyGoodDeed.com which is a grass roots effort of family members of 9/11 survivors to establish the anniversary of September 11th, 2001 as an annually recognized national day of service.

National Hot Cross Bun Day
Not just a popular nursery rhyme, but also a street cry (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hot_Cross_Buns) and a delicious spiced bun made with currants or raisins and leavened with yeast, with a delicious frosting cross on top. Typically served at Easter, they are quite delicious. I didn't know people actually made these, but I in fact enjoyed some this past Easter. - 2
Important Things Day
If anyone tries to talk to you about mundane unimportant things today, remind them that it is Important Things Day, we are only to discuss important items, such as health care reform, Joe Wilson, theories about Lost, why The Wire is the greatest television show of all time, The Blueprint 3, the death of auto-tune, the new auto-tune app on the i-phone. You know, things that matter. Like making sure you have on the right clothes, such as pajamas when you're sleeping. - 3
Make Your Bed Day
Fluff those pillows, pull the sheets over them, gently tuck the sheets under the pillows, tuck the sheets under the bed. Flip out blanket and lay it down, no wait, it's backwards, wait why is the bottom of the sheet at the top of the bed, pull sheet off, start over. Yell at cat to get off the bed. Cat is a cat, so you have to nudge her off. She jumps back on. Fine. Make bed over cat, it's worth it. Today is a holiday, remind yourself. Blanket over cat. Tuck in corners. Smooth out. Today will be a good day, until you get to work and remember it's "Wrench in the Works" Day. But you have made your bed, and now you must lie in it.
**This video has nothing to do with this Holiday, but this guy was just too ridiculous to not post this video. I love the internet.** - 4
National Tricky Handshake Today
Your average high five just won't cut it today. Better add a fist pound, maybe make your fingers snap with your friends, maybe add something with the feet, claps, whatever. Today is the day to step your handshaking game up.
*note: I literally squealed with joy when I found this video on youtube. This is the type of handshake you should aspire to. Not just today, but everyday. - 5
Auditors Day
I'm not sure if this is a celebration of people who listen, or people who audit courses or people who audit accounts, or people who listen attentively in the accounting courses they are auditing. But, today, if you can, say thank you to an auditor.
