Rutger Hauer's 2nd Oscar should have been this one, probably. A shame he hasn't been nominated for an Oscar, ever. This character makes Hannibal Lecter less scary.
In exchange with The Adventures of Priscilla, while Snipes and Leguizamo are great, Swayze gives the best performance out of the three, the less show-off and more committed with the character and the story.
Cameron Díaz so OWNS this movie. "This is MY day". Classic. And wait for her finale. You'll wonder how is possible anyone doubts she's a great actress. Stealing a movie from Slater, Favreau, Perrine, Stern, Piven all at once is normally an impossible mission, yet she did with ease. And mix this movie and "Dude, where's my car" and you have "The Hangover". No kidding!
In Consolation, he got nom'd for the Adapted Screenplay of the film. When he should actually have taken Best Lead Actor with Forest Whittaker as his only real enemy. Another case of eliminating the biggest enemy of Hollywood's favorite before the finals. (Sacha Baron Cohen was the only one actually taking precursor awards from Forest in the Awards season).
