Wow.... Thank all of you. I always thought the barista's at Starbucks acted like fake, Pretentious, A-holes, and after reading all of these comments, aimed at customers...like me, Who doesn't frequent SB, mainly because of the high prices, and employees, who are again...brats, I was proven right. Who gives two shakes if I order an espresso over ice in a larger cup? Is that extra room for some cream coming out of your pocket? No. Who cares if I call it a "frapp", and to know you sit there and glare at people who are ordering drinks you disapprove of...well I'm suprised y'all still have your jobs. You work at a STARBUCKS, not behind a desk, not in some high paying job...you pour MY coffee...so shut up, get off your high horses, and do your damn job, and maybe I'll leave you a dollar in the tip jar, and you can take that...to go buy a clue.

My favorite drink is missing from this list, its a French Vanilla Latte. Its hazelnut and vanilla syrup added to a latte. I always get it iced - delicious!

sorry, hate to say this but if you come to a stand and ask for these by name we won't know what they are. we don't have a list that tells us how to make them and it is rather annoying when coustmers ask for these and then treat us like we are stupid because we don't know how to make them....so if you want something special please just ask for what is in it. so glad i don't work there anymore.

A.... bleeding penguin?? What's with the freaky drink names. It's a marble mocha with raspberry, guys.
For the "super cream" just say with whipped cream blended in. And for a "green eye" a brewed coffee with three shots. A "penguin" is a marble mocha. Just ordering what it is will be simpler, most baristas won't know all the silly names.
As for the "poor man's chai," adding syrups is pretty expensive. Unless you have a registered card where syrups are free, it will cost just as much.
As someone said, we're not really supposed to blend food into drinks.
If you order a "chocolate creme" frappuccino it won't come with coffee. But I do know customers that order a chocolate creme frapp. with a shot of espresso. It's similar to the mocha frappuccino but the espresso makes it a little unique.
The chocolate chips are meant for frappuccinos. They're pretty big, so if you put them in a hot drink they're just going to sink to the bottom.

Just a few critiques for this list from a real barista, hope it's helpful. The rest of it looked good. One of the more fun parts of our job is helping customers come up with stuff, so definitely ask your barista if you want to try something new. Or, ask if they've come up with their own special drinks. I'll share one right now:

For an andes mint frappuccino, order a "peppermint creme frappuccino with java chips, and a scoop of matcha powder." :)

As a barista, I have comments about every single drink on here. But first, I'd like to say Please DON'T come into Starbucks and order any of the drinks by the ridiculous names (other than the Red Eye and Black Eye). Chances are, we won't know what you're talking about and in some cases, like at my store, we won't make the drink for you unless you can tell us what's in it. We're more than happy to make any combination of ingredients that we have for you, just don't call it by some stupid made up name. Another tip, don't call a Frappucino a "frap" or "frappe", it makes you sound stupid. Just like you shouldn't call a "cappucino" a "capp". Okay, moving on.

1) Know that this drink is known by many names ie. Zebra Mocha, Penguin Mocha, Tuxedo Mocha, Marble Mocha. And be sure to tell us if you want half white mocha and half mocha, or full amounts of each. 2) Java chips and chocolate chips are the same thing, and they won't melt in your drink, so you're just left with a chunky mess that you can't drink with the lid on. Just get mocha sauce instead. 3) This is a Raspberry White Mocha Frappucino, and it does not resemble cheesecake in any way. 4) Chocolate syrup and chocolate flavoring are the same thing, it's called mocha. And if it's a cream Frappucino, there's no coffee in it. Just sayin'. 5) Just order a Strawberries and Cream with Toffee Nut and save us all the pain of guessing what you want. 6) We don't use Nutella, so don't call this a Nutella drink. Just order a Misto with mocha and hazelnut if you want a super sweet, sugary drink. Also, one drop of caramel won't make a difference in taste. 7) We don't have cinnamon sticks, so don't let the picture fool you. Again, order this, and you'll have a sickeningly sweet concoction. 8) Don't just say a "vanilla frap" (don't say "frap" at all, it drives us nuts), because we have Vanilla Bean (no coffee) and Caffe Vanilla (with coffee), and most Starbucks do NOT have almond so we can't make this. And since almond tends to taste like cherry, we can't substitute anything for it. (You might find Almond at some licensed stores, like the ones in B&N) 9) There is absolutely nothing secret about this. But you are going to pay only about ten cents less than a tall for a short. 10) Adding whipped cream won't make a difference in taste, and you'll just add a ton of fat. Not recommended.

hey i have a question , they don't make a brownie frapp,i remember my older sister use to get it when i was in elementary it was delic. ;)

So, they have the red eye, the black eye, the green eye -- what about the blue eye (I would make that with a shot of Johnny Walker Blue label, thank you).

Actual exchange between a customer and my manager:
Customer: Can I get a Raspberry Cheesecake Frappuccino?
My Manager: Okay, sure! Can you remind me how to make that?
Customer: Oh, well, if you don't know what you're doing, then don't bother.
My Manager: Sorry, I hadn't heard of it before.
Customer: It's on your secret menu. My daughter looked it up online and I went to a different Starbucks, and they totally knew what I was talking about.
My Manager: Sorry, I guess I don't know our secret menu.
(My manager has been working for Starbucks for 12 years)

At least my manager was being really upbeat about it and was willing to figure it out for her, but the customer shut her down. I don't even know what the recipe the customer wanted had in it, because she said they used the cream cheese for bagels. I'm now sure she was referring to this list.

Unfortunately, Starbucks still cannot make my favorite drink ... the neopolitan mocha. Such a shame they can't as it's an awesome drink!!

You can also order a salted hot chocolate,which might not be counted as a "hidden" drink since there's a salted caramel hot chocolate on the menu,but I know some baristas count it as a different drink and don't put caramel on. It's delicious!

A "Zebra" Mocha is called a black and white mocha, you should also specify if you want the amount of syrup divided between the mocha and white mocha, or if you want additional syrup (which would be outrageously sweet)

the cereal frappe is stupid and it looks disgusting and sounds disgusting.

the first three pages are great but then no way ho zae the rest is junk.

this stuff is amazing on the first two pages, but other wise this stuff is plain bad.

they also have 5 sizes the last one is tetra

AH. Coming from another barista THERE IS NOOO SECRET MENUE. thats the most annoying thing in the world when they come up or go threw the drive thru asking for some stupid drink name. We arent taught these drinks- we dont know these drinks. we can make any combo of anything for you but dont go and ask for an idiotic named drink. oh, and the marble machiatto is delicious and very recommended..

oh and sorry whoever created this article forgot to consult with you, to make sure you hadn't come up with these ideas already in your mind. I feel so awful!!

This is one of the most annoying things that has ever happened to me. I saw that someone already said what I've been thinking. We will make any combination of flavors, but don't use an unusual name. I've worked for Starbucks for 5 years and the only "secret" drinks I can think of are discontinued drinks - Marble Mocha Macchiato, Blended Strawberry Lemonade, Apple Chai Infusion... I think that's it. As for the other drinks - Red Eye, Black Eye, Raspberry White Mocha, Double Chocolaty Chip Frappucinos - none of them are secrets. Also we HATE when people order iced espressos with light ice. We know what you're doing. You dot have to avoid eye contact. But you can know that we hate what youre doing. As for French Press, that's on the menu. Short has never been a secret (ever wondered why a Tall is small? Because Starbucks started with just two sizes - Short and Tall. Grande was added when people wanted a bigger size, Venti after that and now Trenta for Iced Tea and Iced Coffee only).

But please, feel free to be creative! We LOVE creativity in making delicious beverages! Just don't think that we can read your mind. Don't get mad when we don't understand a cake batter frappuccino - or when we tell you we haven't carried almond in almost 5 years. Don't ask us to blend food into a frappuccino. And please don't order a frappe or frapp-pay. We are not McDonald's.

Good to know about the short drink size. Bigger is better but in other cases smaller means less sugar, which is a lot better. The barista in the short cup would work great.

Pro-tips from your barista:\nWe will make nearly any combination of milk, espresso, coffee, syrup, etc that you ask for, but there is no secret menu. Sometimes baristas or customers stumble upon unusual drink combinations that taste kind of good, and sometimes they will even give it a name. But that name would only possibly have meaning at that particular store. So if you want something on this "secret menu", please please please don't come up and ask for a "red tux mocha" because I have no idea what that is. Simply describe what the drink is and we will make it.\n\nException: the biscotti frap. We certainly won't make that. Only certain things are allowed in the blenders, and packaged food (even our own packaged food) is not on the list. Baristas are not allowed to make this drink and any barista that does this for you is risking their job, perhaps inadvertently if they do not know this rule. Please don't ask for it!\n\nRe: london fog. Just ask for an earl grey tea latte. The drink recipe calls for vanilla syrup anyway.\n\nThere is no difference between "java chips" and "chocolate chips". The java chip frap is called that to reflect the fact that it contains coffee, not that it contains "java chips". This is to differentiate it from the double chocolaty chip frap which does not have coffee.\n\nAlso, most stores don't have almond syrup any more. I'm not actually sure if any of them do.\n\nMany licensed stores won't sell short drinks. Licensed stores are the ones you find inside of supermarkets and malls. They may have the cups for serving espresso in, but that's it. Since the prices for short drinks are not actually on the menu, and many licensed stores use the prices on the menus to program their registers, they often don't have prices in the register for short drinks. At the store I work at, we'll sell you a short drink, but we'll charge you the tall price.

you can't actually order the biscotti or cereal frapps. While the baristas may make them for themselves, they won't make them for customers.
