Lainio Snow Village Ice Restaurant in Finland

Set within one of several ice hotels around the world, the Laino Snow Village Ice Restaurant will have you dreaming about saunas, hot tubs and 100-degree weather in no time. That's right, this restaurant is ice cold and kept that way at between 23 and 28 degrees Fahrenheit at all times.

There is no set dress code, but trust us that arriving in anything less than a full snow suit is a mistake. The entire restaurant is made or snow or ice. The walls, the tables, even the chairs, all frozen.

Because it would be impossible to keep any food warm, the restaurant serves cold meals. Just as the menu changes, the restaurant changes each year as well. That's because it's built from the ground up with snow and ice each winter, then melts into nothingness when weather warms up in Finland each spring.

Though now closed, the Yellow Treehouse Restaurant in New Zealand was a dream destination to dine for treehouse lovers as, just like advertised, this restaurant was suspended in a pod structure around a tree in the middle of a forest. The Redwoods treehouse opened in December 2008 and operated until February 2009. Despite winning awards for its design, the experiment ended after the land was transfered back to the original owner.

What is so scary about a restaurant in a tree you may ask? Well, let's start with the path to the dining area, which is suspended 10 meters up in the air.

Second, the entire restaurant, which can hold about 20 people at any given time, hangs from a tree. See those rings around that giant tree? That is what holds the restaurant and diners between floating in the air and falling to the ground.

Things could go too far at Tokyo's prison and hospital themed combo restaurant, but they've found a nice balance between naughty and nice in this hot spot.

Just like going to the hospital, to enter this restaurant you'll start by telling the nurses your blood type.

Then things get a bit weird as that seemingly harmless nurse slaps handcuffs on you, gives you a (pretend) shot in the rear and guides you to your table, which by the way is also a jail cell.

The weirdness does not stop there as a full menu of themed foods and drinks follows. That's right, if you've ever wanted to eat food shaped like a severed penis or try cocktails with false teeth in them, you are in luck. Oh, and just like every other hospital prison, they have karaoke too.
